Emily Blunt is in negotiations to star in the next film of director Steven Spielberg, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Spielberg will direct the yet-to-be-titled feature for Universal Pictures based on a screenplay by his frequent collaborator David KoeppThe film is slated for a release on May 15, 2026, which will make it the first summer film from Spielberg in ten years after The BFG. The makers are yet to reveal any information about the film's plot, but it is reportedly a spectacle in line with the Spielberg brand of cinema. If the deal goes through, it would be Blunt's first film with director Spielberg.

His last directorial was 2022's The Fabelmans, which earned seven Oscar nominations including two for the filmmaker in the best director and screenplay categories and one for Michelle Williams for Best Actress. On the other hand, Blunt was last seen in The Fall Guy, opposite Ryan Gosling, and voiced a character in her spouse John Krasinski’s fantasy film IF. Her upcoming projects include The Smashing Machine, with Dwayne Johnson, which is in production, and a film with director Jaume Collet-Serra.
