The USA Network has greenlit a series adaptation of John Grisham's novel 'The Rainmaker', with Grisham and Jason Blum set to executive produce. Michael Seitzman has written the pilot for the series alongside Jason Richman. Its official synopsis reads thus: "Fresh out of law school, Rudy Baylor goes head-to-head with courtroom lion Leo Drummond as well as his law school girlfriend. Rudy, along with his boss and her disheveled paralegal, uncover two connected conspiracies surrounding the mysterious death of their client’s son.”
Seitzman and Richman are also executive producing the show, along with David Gernert. The studios Lionsgate Television and Blumhouse Television are also attached to the project. This is the second adaptation of the Grisham novel. Francis Ford Coppola directed the 1997 film The Rainmaker, starring Matt Damon, Claire Danes, Mary Kay Place, Jon Voight, Mickey Rourke, Danny Glover, Danny DeVito, Virginia Madsen, Teresa Wright, and Roy Scheider.
Seitzman's most popular works are the medical drama Code Black and the action show Intelligence. He has previously worked with Blumhouse on the Elizabeth Moss-starrer She Will Rise.
