Olivia Holt, Mason Gooding join hands for horror rom-com Heart Eyes
Actors Olivia Holt and Mason Gooding have joined the cast of Heart Eyes, a horror romantic comedy for Spyglass. Josh Ruben is set to direct the film -- which will go on floors in New Zealand -- from a screenplay by Phillip Murphy, Christopher Landon and Michael Kennedy.
According to the official description of the film, the Heart Eyes Killer strikes Seattle, a pair of co-workers pulling overtime on Valentine’s Day are mistaken for a couple by the elusive couple-hunting killer. They must spend the most romantic night of the year running for their lives. The other members in the cast are yet to be announced by the makers.
Heart Eyes will be the latest film by Spyglass which is building on the success of Scream, Scream VI and Thanksgiving.
The film will be produced by Landon, Greg Gilreath and Adam Hendricks, while Spyglass’ Gary Barber and Chris Stone will serve as executive producers, with Murphy. A release date for Heart Eyes has not been revealed yet.
Holt starred in the 2021 thriller series Cruel Summer and Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger (2018). She most recently starred in the 2023 horror-comedy Totally Killer. Up next, she has the rom-com Jingle Bell Heist and has a guest starring role on Peacock’s new comedy series Laid. Gooding is well known for playing Chad Meeks-Martin in Scream and Scream VI. He will next be seen in Kyle Mooney’s disaster comedy Y2K.
