Erin Kellyman is the latest to join the cast of Danny Boyle's 28 Years Later. The film is the follow-up to 28 Days Later (2002) and 28 Weeks Later (2007), and the first instalment of three new post-apocalyptic films from Sony.
28 Years Later will also see Cillian Murphy reprising his role from 28 Days Later. Details regarding the sequel's plot and the role Kellyman is set to play, are still under wraps. Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Ralph Fiennes and Jack O’Connell will also star alongside Kellyman and Murphy.
Alex Garland is the scriptwriter for 28 Years Later. Boyle and Garland are reuniting for 28 Years Later after 17 years. 28 Days Later saw Murphy as a bicycle courier who wakes from a coma to find the world plagued with zombies following the outbreak of a virus. The massive commercial success of the film paved the way to the standalone 2007 sequel, on which Boyle and Garland served solely as executive producers.
Apart from helming the film, Boyle and Garland are also producing 28 Years Later, along with the original producers Andrew Macdonald and Peter Rice. The film is scheduled to be released in theatres on June 20, 2025.
Candyman director Nia DiCosta is all set to helm the second instalment in this franchise, which is planned to shoot back-to-back with the first film.
Known for her performance in Raised by Wolves, Les Misérables and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Kellyman will next be seen in Steve McQueen's Blitz, in which she will be seen alongside Saoirse Ronan and Harris Dickinson. She also has Scarlett Johansson's feature directorial debut Eleanor the Great, starring June Squibb as the titular character.
