Mikaela Hoover and Christopher MacDonald join the cast of James Gunn's Superman

The cast of James Gunn's Superman is getting bigger by the day. The latest to join the much-anticipated film are Mikaela Hoover and Christopher McDonald. The duo will play Cat Grant and Ron Troupe respectively, a pair of reporters for the Daily Planet.

Superman, which went on floors in March, is currently filming in in Atlanta with David Corenswet starring as Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Lois also works at The Daily Planet.

The cast of Superman also includes Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, and Wendell Pierce as Perry White. Additionally, the movie will feature classic members of Superman’s supporting characters, such as Jimmy Olsen being played by Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher and Wendell Pierce as Daily Planet editor in chief Perry White. Pruitt Taylor Vince will play Jonathan Kent and Neva Howell takes on the role of Martha Kent.

Recently, we had reported that Saturday Night Live alum Beck Bennett joined the cast to play Steve Lombard, a blowhard and self-serving reporter who in the comics serves as a foil to boy scout reporter Kent.

The story of the upcoming film will follow Superman as he looks to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.

Gunn is directing from his own script, which draws on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The film is slated for a July 11, 2025 release.

While McDonald is new to the screen, Hoover has worked in Gunn's productions including Guardians of the Galaxy, The Suicide Squad and The Belko Experiment.She also appeared in Netflix romcom Love Hard.
