Julia Butters who is best known for her roles in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and The Fabelmans is reportedly in talks to join the cast of Disney's sequel to Freaky Friday, reported InSneider.

Last year, Disney had confirmed plans to make a sequel for the film. In March this year, Nisha Ganatra onboarded the sequel as the director of the film. She is best known for directing 2019’s Late Night with Mindy Kaling and Emma Thomps, and the 2020 film The High Note starring Dakota Johnson and Tracee Ellis Ross. She most recently helmed two episodes of Hulu’s Welcome to Chippendales.

Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, who starred in the first part directed by Mark Waters, are officially returning for the follow-up. The other cast members and the plot of the film has not been revealed yet. The sequel has a script by Jordan Weiss and will be produced by Andrew Gunn and Kristin Burr.

Based on Mary Rodgers's 1972 novel of the same name, Freaky Friday is the third adaptation of the same story and fifth installment overall in the Freaky Friday franchise.

In 2003's Freaky Friday, which was a remake of the a 1977 film starring Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster, the mother and daughter duo eat a magical Chinese fortune cookie, which results in them switching bodies. This results in hilarious situations, revelations and eventually, better bonding of the mother and daughter.

Along with Lohan and Curtis, the beloved film, which was a hit among millennials, also starred Chad Michael Murray and Mark Harmon.
