Bringing speculations about him getting cast in Anthony Mackie-starrer Captain America: Brave New World true, actor Giancarlo Esposita will join the new schedule of the Marvel Studios project's filming.

Though there is no official word on the kind of role he is cast in, sources close to the team have informed The Hollywood Reporter that he is playing a "villainous role."

According the said sources, the schedule will be 22 days long and some new action sequences will be added elements in the film.

Disney, this April, at CinemaCon screened a glimpse of Anthony Mackie in the iconic red, white, and blue attire. The glimpse footage shows Sam Wilson saving the US President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford), from mind-controlled assassins. Ross also seeks Captain America's help to rebuild the Avengers.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said the upcoming film will be on the lines of Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) on the basis of the theme. He said the fourth installment would be "a grounded action thriller" with no aliens. The film would focus on the machinations of the political sphere.

The Captain America: Brave New World would feature the ensemble cast of Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, Harrison Ford, Liv Tyler andd Shira Haas.

Captain America: Brave New World directed by Julius Onah is produced by Kevin Feige, Nate Moore and Malcolm Spellman. The film will be released in the US on February 14, 2025.
