Actor Channing Tatum expressed his gratitude to Ryan Reynolds for making his Deadpool and Wolverine cameo happen. He took to social media to say that he will always be thankful to Reynolds for his support.

Tatum was seen as Gambit, the X-Men mutant character in Deadpool and Wolverine. A standalone film for Gambit was being developed for four years by Tatum and Reid Carolin for 20th Century Fox. However, the merger of Disney and Fox in 2019 abruptly shelved the project.

Sharing two photos from Comic-Con side-be-side, he wrote, "These pictures are almost 10 years apart to the day. I sat in the audience when Ryan Reynolds showed his first peek of Deadpool 1 to the world and I think I ran back stage right after and found him and I think I just hugged him and was like holy shit you did it man. It's perfect. I didn't know him really at all back then. But since then I can say that there is almost no one that has had my back in this industry more than Ryan Reynolds." The first photo was taken almost a decade ago, during the first Deadpool film release.

The second photograph was taken recently at the Comic-Con that happened last weekend. He further wrote, " I thought I had lost Gambit forever. But he fought for me and Gambit. I will owe him probably forever. Cause I’m not sure how I could ever do something that would be equal to what this has meant to me. I love ya, buddy. Director Shawn Levy as well. Truly such a brilliant creator on every single level. All things happen for a reason. I’m so grateful to be in this movie. It’s a masterpiece in my opinion. And just pure badass joy. I was literally screaming in the theatre."

Helmed by Shawn Levy, Deadpool and Wolverine hit theatres on July 26 and opened to positive reviews. Apart from Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, the star cast of the film also includes Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni and Matthew Macfadyen. That apart, cinematographer George Richmond, editors Shane Reid and Dean Zimmerman, and music composer Rob Simonsen make up the technical crew of Deadpool and Wolverine.

Deadpool and Wolverine is backed by Kevin Feige, Ryan Reynolds, Shawn Levy and Lauren Shuler Donner. It is also written by Levy and Reynolds along with Rhett Teese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells.
