Earlier, we reported about Robert Downey Jr's comeback to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the villaneous character Doctor Doom in the Russo brothers' upcoming films Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Now, the actor's Iron Man co-star Gwyneth Paltrow has responded to the news that came at the recently concluded San Diego Comic-Con. Subsequently, a surprised Paltrow left a comment—“I don’t get it, are you a baddie now?”—under Downey Jr’s post on Instagram that announced his MCU return. The Russo brothers then qupped, “We’ve always said green is your color…”

Paltrow played Pepper Potts, Tony Stark's love interest and personal assistant, in 2008's Iron Man, the film that set the franchise on its way. They also appeared together in the subsequent Iron Man sequels, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Avengers: Endgame. During a 2023 interaction with fans on Instagram, Paltrow rhetorically stated that she would not return to the MCU as Iron Man died in Avengers: Endgame. She said, "why do you need Pepper Potts without Iron Man?"
