Percy Jackson and the Olympians makers have found a new cast member for a key character in the second season of the show. Daniel Diemer (The Midnight Club and Supercell star) joins the existing cast of the show as Tyson, Percy's half-brother and a cyclops. Series co-creator Rick Riordan confirmed the same at the ongoing San Diego Comic-Con. He joins the other series regulars Walker Scobell (Percy Jackson), Leah Sava Jeffries (Annabeth) and Aryan Simhadri (Grover). Tyson is among the fan favourites in Riordan’s Percy Jackson novel series. The son of Poseidon (Toby Stephens), Tyson had his upbringing on the streets all alone, so surviving in the world of humans becomes challenging for him. Talking about the casting announcement at the Comic-Con event, Riordan said, "He (Diemer) will bring a whole new dimension to Tyson, and it‘s going to be incredible to see him in the second season."

Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, based on Riordan’s book The Sea of Monsters, will go on floors in Vancouver next week. Riordan and Jonathan E Steinberg created the show for 20th Television.

Set a year following season 1, the upcoming season follows Percy's journey back to the demigod training facility Camp Half-Blood, only to find it "turned upside down." The plotline of the series reads thus: “His friendship with Annabeth is changing, he learns he has a cyclops for a brother, Grover has gone missing, and camp is under siege from the forces of Kronos. Percy’s journey to set things right will take him off the map and into the deadly Sea of Monsters, where a secret fate awaits the son of Poseidon.”
