Mr Throwback distributor Peacock released the first official trailer for the show, starring legendary basketball player Stephen Curry as himself and Adam Pally. The trailer starts with a piece of sarcastic humour from the Golden State Warriors star, where he says, "This is a story of one of the most dominant basketball players of all time. A player so electrifying, so beloved on and off the court. I am not talking about me. I am talking about Danny Grossman." Soon, it shows Pally as Danny Grossman, who is described as "a down-on-his-luck memorabilia dealer" seeking to redeem himself "by reuniting with his sixth-grade teammate and basketball legend Curry."

The trailer leaves it for the audience to decide whether Grossman wants to relive his glorious school days with Curry all over again or whether he has an ulterior motive. Curry seems to be eager to help Grossman redeem himself when he says, "Let's do a documentary on it." However, things seem to take a turn when Ego Nwodim's character says, "People love a redemption story. But you know what people love more? A trainwreck."

David Caspe, Pally himself, Matthew Libman, Erick Peyton, and Daniel Libman serve as creators and executive producers of the show. Curry is also an executive producer.

Billed as a mockumentary, Mr Throwback marks Curry's acting debut in a fictional TV show. It is slated for an August 8 premiere on Peacock.
