FX has announced the premiere date for the sixth and last season of What We Do in the Shadows. The first three episodes of the comedy show will drop on FX on October 21, and the rest of the episodes will release once a week thereafter. It will drop internationally on Disney+ on a different date.
According to its official description, in What We Do in the Shadows season six, “Guillermo (Harvey Guillen) is re-evaluating his life after a very brief stint as a full-blown vampire. Who is he if not a familiar who will do anything to please his Master in hopes of one day being turned into a vampire? Meanwhile, the vampires are reevaluating, too. When their former roommate reappears after a 50-year nap, they realize how little they’ve done in half a century—not one goal accomplished, not one dream pursued, not one part of the New World conquered (except for their street and part of Ashley Street).”
Alongside Guillen, it stars Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, Mark Proksch, Kristen Schaal, and Kayvan Novak. Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement, the directors of the eponymous 2014 film the show is based on, created the series. The premiere announcement comes shortly after the show bagged eight Emmy nominations, including best actor in a comedy series for Berry and best comedy series. Berry, Novak, Schaal, and Proksch will appear at the coming San Diego Comic-Con alongside series executive producer and writer Paul Simms as well as director and executive producer Kyle Newacheck.
