Streaming platfrom Netflix has released the trailer video of its upcoming Western docudrama series Wyatt Earp and The Cowboy War on Wednesday.
The six-episode series is directed by BAFTA-winning director Patrick Reams, who is known for his work in Rebel Pope and Marilyn Monroe: Auction of a Lifetime.
Wyatt Earp and The Cowboy War is based on the life of Wyatt Earp (1848–1929), a lawman and gunfighter who waged a battle against the Billy Clanton and gang, who were infamously called 'The Cowboys'. Tensions arose between Earp, his brothers Virgil and Morgan, and a friend, Doc Holliday, while trying to disarm Clanton and his gang for alleged robbery and murder in 1881. This event was followed by a big gunfight at the OK Corral.
Earp managed to escape attempts on his life after killing Billy Clanton, Tom McLaury, and Frank McLaury; in that process, he killed several gang members. Legends hail Earp as a fearless man.
It is worth noting that this Wild West saga was adapted for the screen in 1993 called Tombstone.
The star cast of the series has Tim Fellingham, Edward Franklin, Jack Gordon, Peter O'Meara, and Christian Mackay in crucial roles.
While Up N Atom and Muse Entertainment are backing the project for Netflix, Stephen David, Patrick Reams and Jon Soule will serve as executive producers.
Wyatt Earp and The Cowboy War will stream on Netflix from August 21.
