
Bad Monkey distributor Apple TV has dropped the official trailer for the show, starring Vince Vaughn in the lead role. The logline reads thus: "Based on Carl Hiaasen’s New York Times bestselling novel and enduring cult favourite, Bad Monkey tells the story of Andrew Yancy (Vaughn), who has been bounced from the Miami Police Department and is now a health inspector in the Keys. But after stumbling upon a case that begins with a human arm fished up by tourists, he realises that if he can prove murder, he’ll be back in. He just needs to get past a trove of Floridian oddballs and one bad monkey."
The supporting cast also includes L Scott Caldwell, Rob Delaney, Meredith Hagner, Natalie Martinez, Alex Moffat, Michelle Monaghan, Ronald Peet, and Jodie Turner-Smith. It also has special guest appearances from John Ortiz, Zach Braff, Ashley Nicole Black, Scott Glenn, and Charlotte Lawrence in her television debut.
Showrunner and executive producer Bill Lawrence developed the show through his banner Doozer Productions. Warner Bros. Television is also attached to the show as a co-producer. Executive producers include Vaughn himself, Jeff Ingold, Marcos Siega, Matt Tarses, and Liza Katzer.
Bad Monkey premieres on Apple TV+ on August 14.
