Joker: Folie A Deux distributor Warner Bros. Pictures has released a new trailer for the film, a sequel to 2019's Joker. Co-written, directed, and co-produced by Todd Phillips, the film brings back Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, also known as Joker, and introduces Lady Gaga's character Harley Quinn. The trailer begins with a callback to the 2019 original, with Harvey Dent's voiceover about Fleck. "They believe Arthur Fleck to be some kind of martyr. Well, he is not. He is a monster," says Dent. Then, it shows Quinn declaring her love for Joker. "When I saw Joker, when I saw you, for once in my life, I did not feel so alone anymore," she says.

Judging by the trailer, Joker: Folie A Deux seems like a cross between some Martin Scorsese classics and a musical. The Joker 2 trailer shows Gaga's character dancing with, hugging, and even kissing Phoenix's Joker while parts from Frank Sinatra's song 'When You're Smiling' play in the background. She seems to be a figment of Joker's wild imagination. Just like Joker, she is everywhere, from his prison to a live show stage to the footsteps of a courthouse. In one scene, she applies paint across her lips, just like in the Joker pattern. All of these happen as chaos erupts in Gotham City.

Also written by Scott Silver, the film's supporting cast includes the likes of Zazie Beetz, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey. Produced by Phillips and Bradley Cooper, Joker: Folie A Deux is slated for an October 4 release, following its Venice Film Festival premiere.
