Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, best known as the screenwriters of films such as Children of Men and Iron Man, are writing the screenplay for a live-action film based on Shadow Tiger, an Indian comic book from Sharad Devarajan. The film is currently in development at Sharad's company Graphic India. Deadline first reported the news. This marks the screenwriters' return to the comic book-based superhero genre after 2008's Iron Man, starring Robert Downey Jr in the titular role and Gwyneth Paltrow. More recently, Fergus and Ostby created The Expanse, a science-fiction show, for Syfy.
Graphic India is producing Shadow Tiger through one of its new divisions for live-action productions. Ostby and Fergus also serve as co-producers, alongside Graphic India's Senior Vice President of Development and Production in Live Action, namely Sarena Khan.
The Shadow Tiger series of comic books revolves around a young lawyer named Rajan Shah whose career take a drastic turn after challenging the legal system in India. After inheriting a billion-dollar empire as well as gaining a superpower from the person responsible for the death of his parents, Rajan promises to not only protect innocent people but also bring them justice.
