Production on the highly anticipated Alien series for FX has been completed, and showrunner Noah Hawley revealed the official title: Alien: Earth. The news came during discussions with FX chief John Landgraf about the network's Emmy award nominations and upcoming programming.

Hawley, in an interview with Variety, expressed his enthusiasm for the project. "We just wrapped production, so now I’m into the long post that gets into visual effects.” He highlighted the show's scale and the importance of post-production: "It’s a very big show. It’s nice to have some time with it."

Landgraf, while discussing FX's Emmy contenders, also shared that he is optimistic for Alien: Earth. He revealed the network is already planning for future seasons. He stated, “We’re pretty bullish on Alien: Earth and we’ve told him that assuming, as we hope, Alien: Earth is a returning television series, we want him to focus on at least writing two seasons of it before returning to a possible sixth season of Fargo.”

Alien: Earth serves as a prequel to Ridley Scott's iconic 1979 film Alien, which spawned a franchise of eight films. It joins the new Alien film titled Alien: Romulus, scheduled for release this summer. Set between Alien and Aliens, Alien: Romulus follows young space colonists encountering a familiar extraterrestrial threat.

The cast of Alien: Earth includes Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, and David Rysdahl.
