Emmys 2024: The Bear breaks records with 23 nominations

FX and Hulu's comedy drama series The Bear has broken the record for the most number of nominations in this year's Emmys season. At 23 nods, this is the most number of nominations for a comedy show ever and is just the second behind Shogun which earned 25 nominations. The previous record was held by the NBC series 30 Rock since 2009. The 76th Emmys will be held in Los Angeles' Peacock Theatre on September 16, 2024.

The Bear which premiered in 2022, stars Jeremy Allen White as as Carmy Berzatto, an award-winning chef who returns to his hometown of Chicago to manage the chaotic kitchen at his deceased brother's sandwich shop. The supporting cast includes Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Abby Elliott and Matty Matheson. The second season, released in 2022, had the team transforming the shop into a top-class restaurant. The third season which was released recently, delved deep into the details of the inner workings of a fine dining restaurant while the team manages dynamics within themselves.

The first season received ten Primetime Emmy Awards including Outstanding Comedy Series and acting wins for White, Moss-Bachrach, and Edebiri. The Bear has also won four Golden Globe Awards, with acting wins for White and Edebiri and the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy in 2024.
