Netflix has released the much-anticipated first look into the world of Stranger Things 5 as the series completed filming halfway. The BTS video of the fifth and final season shows the main characters on the sets and gives a deep dive into the world of Hawkins.
"I started when I was 10, I’m now turning 20 years old,” says star Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven). “Feels very weird." "It’s just so exciting, I think this is going to be the best season yet," adds Noah Schnapp (Will Byers).
The video teases three new actors joining the show - Nell Fisher of Evil Dead Rise fame, Alex Breaux of Waco: The Aftermath and a newcomer, Jake Connelly. It also shows a glimpse of the sound stages where the cast has been filming for the season 5 of the show. Caleb McLaughlin notes that they’re only halfway through production, with a lot left to shoot.
Showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer previously told Netflix Tudum that they had written a 25-page document delving into the mythology of the Upside Down in the series. “The last remaining questions that are answered in that document, we’ve punted a couple of those to have some big reveals in Season 5,” Duffer said.
The ensemble cast includes Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Jamie Campbell Bower, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp and Maya Hawke, among others.
While the makers did reveal that Hawkins will fall in season 5 and suggested that a bigger evil is at play, the plot and details regarding the story have not been disclosed. A release date is also yet to be announced.
