HBO also to release The Penguin, drops first poster
Warner Bros. Discovery changed the status of The Batman spinoff series The Penguin from a Max Original show to an HBO Original series. Consequently, both Max and HBO released the first poster for The Penguin, starring Colin Farrell in the titular role. The show's plot revolves around the efforts of Farrell's character Oz, also known as The Penguin, to destroy the Falcone Crime Family and take control of the underbelly of Gotham City's crime scene. Standing in the Penguin's path to success is Cristin Milioti's character Sofia Falcone, the late Carmine Falcone's daughter.
Based on the novel Penguin by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, the show is set a week after the events in filmmaker Matt Reeves' The Batman. Besides Farrell and Milioti, it stars Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Zegen, and Salvatore Maroni. Rhenzy Feliz, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Carmen Ejogo, François Chau, David H Holmes, and Michael Kelly round out its cast.
The limited series from writer-showrunner Lauren LeFranc will drop on Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming platform Max in September, besides premiering on HBO.
