Actor Nicolas Cage has opened up on his impending retirement from acting.

He says he has "three or four more lead roles" before quitting his silver screen career. According to his Deadline interview, Cage remarked that he has attained a sense of fulfilment as he felt he had said what he had to say with cinema. "I think I took film performance as far as I could," he added.

He metaphorically described his balance in roles while addressing concerns over maintaining integrity of his craft, saying, ""It would have been a slippery slope. I think it could have lapsed into something almost too ridiculous. You don't want to see that the shark is made of rubber, you know? You want the shark to be terrifying and keep it under the water for a lot of it."

The actor was seen in three films in this year so far, The Surfer, Arcadian, and Longlegs, where he served as the producer for the second and third film.

He has The Prince, The Gunslingers, and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse under different stages of production.
