First glimpse of Anthony Mackie as Captain America out

Anthony Mackie shared a new still of him clad in a Captain America costume for his upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World. Mackie plays Sam Wilson, also known as Captain America, in the Marvel Studios production, directed by Julius Onah from a screenplay by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. The production house is yet to reveal details about the film's plot, but it reportedly charts Captain America's further adventures following on from the series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The film also stars Harrison Ford, Tim Blake Nelson, Liv Tyler, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, and Carl Lumbly.

It is the fourth instalment in the Captain America franchise. For the uninitiated, Mackie's Sam Wilson takes on the mantle of Captain America in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier after Wyatt Russell's John Walker gets relieved of the title because of his deeds. Chris Evans' Captain America, Steve Rogers, retires at the end of Avengers: Endgame. He chooses to live a full life while passing his shield and the Captain America title on to Sam Wilson.

Captain America: Brave New World is slated for a February 14, 2025, release in theatres.
