Earlier, we reported that actors Tom Blyth and Sophie Wilde teamed up for the film adaptation of UbiSoft's video game Watch Dogs. It has now been learned that the film's shooting has begun. Ubisoft, on their Twitter handle, shared a picture of a clapboard hinting at the beginning of the film's production. The film is directed by Mathieu Turi.

The game immerses players in the world of skilled hackers who use technology to combat forces trying to control and oppress the world's major cities. The game franchise enjoys 50 million players worldwide. Its exploration of the world of hacking and underworld networks has led to its expansion into entertainment media and comics, with the latest addition to the franchise being Watch Dogs: Legion which was released in 2020.

The film has been penned by Christie LeBlanc including new new revisions suggested by Victoria Bata. The project is backed by New Regency's chairman and CEO, Yariv Milchan, president of Motion Pictures and Television at New Regency, Natalie Lehmann, and Ubisoft Film & Television's head of content, Margaret Boykin.
