Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning gets OTT release date, drops 'Part One' from title

Tom Cruise‘s latest Mission: Impossible will finally be available for free streaming as part of a subscription service Paramount+. When the film was released in theatres, it was known as Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.

In a press release, Paramount Pictures confirmed that Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning will arrive on its streaming service Paramount Plus on January 25. Paramount has also dropped the 'Part One' from its title.

The sequel to the same titled Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part Two was been postponed from June 28 2024 to 23 May 2025 due to the Hollywood strikes, according to earlier news. Due to this, the makers have made the slight change.

The seventh Mission Impossible, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, opened in cinemas shortly before Barbenheimer's international sensation. It grossed $567,535,383 (Rs 4,714 crore) worldwide, falling shy of the 2018 instalment Mission Impossible: Fallout ($791.7 million globally) and the heady highs of Cruise's summer 2022 blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick ($1.5 billion).

The 163-minute-long action thriller drew some of the best reviews of the 27-year-old movie franchise but was quickly eclipsed by the box-office juggernauts of Barbie and Oppenheimer.

The film was the first in the final two-part conclusion to the Mission Impossible franchise and Tom Cruise's career as Ethan Hunt.
