75th Emmy Awards: The Bear wins trophy for Outstanding Comedy series

The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards took place on Monday, January 15 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California, which was hosted by Anthony Anderson. The biggest winners of the award event were Succession and The Bear

The Bear was feted with the honour of Outstanding Comedy Series at the ceremony. It beat fellow nominees like Abbott Elementary, Barry, The Bear, Jury Duty, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, Only Murders in the Building, Ted Lasso and Wednesday.

The series also won six awards, topping the comedy category and garnering performance awards for stars Jeremy Allen White (lead actor in a comedy), Ayo Edebiri (lead actress in a comedy) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (supporting actor in a comedy).

After winning the award, Allen White thanked the entire cast and crew of the show and said, "Thank you. I am so proud and full of gratitude I love the show so much. It set a fire in me. Thank you. Thank you to all those who stayed close to me. Thank you for believing in me when I had trouble believing in myself."

He was nominated alongside names such as Bill Hader (Barry), Jason Segel (Shrinking), Martin Short (Only Murders in the Building) and Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso).

The Bear, which stars Jeremy Allen White in the lead role, follows his story as a young chef who inherits his family's beef sandwich shop after the tragic suicide of his older brother. He comes to run it after leaving behind his world of working in a Michelin-star restaurant following which he is left to deal with a series of problems including his brother's unresolved debts, a rundown kitchen, and an unruly staff, while dealing with his own pain and family trauma.

The comedy-drama series created by Christopher Storer, also stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Ayo Edebiri, Lionel Boyce, Liza Colon-Zayas, Abby Elliott, and Matty Matheson.
