Steven Yeun responds to his Thunderbolts exit

Earlier, we had reported that actor Steven Yeun, who was supposed to play a prominent role in the upcoming Marvel film Thunderbolts, had exited the project, citing scheduling conflicts.

In a recent conversation with Variety, the actor elaborated on his departure from the film. "I think for me, time passing and things shifting kind of pulled me out of it. It took a lot of drafts on email to make sure that I conveyed the sincerity of how sorry I was to have to back out", said Yeun. Thunderbolts, helmed by  Jake Schreier, who directed six episodes of last year's Netflix series Beef, has a script penned by Lee Sung Jin and Eric Pearson.

While saying Jake Schreier would deliver an incredible job with Thunderbolts, Yeun also added he wanted to do a Marvel film. 

The film, which is part of Marvel's phase five, will reportedly go on floors in April this year. In the Marvel comics, Thunderbolts focuses on a group of anti-heroes sent on missions by the government. However, The plot of the film is still under wraps.

The cast of Thunderbolts comprises Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen and Olga Kurylenko, among others. Thunderbolts is set for a July 25, 2025, release date worldwide.
