Lionsgate has announced that the John Wick spinoff film, Ballerina, will release in theatres on June 06, 2025, instead of the planned June 07, 2024. According to Lionsgate insiders, the move has come about due to the option of filming more action sequences for Ballerina. Lionsgate reckons that as its next, The Crow remake, is all set to hit theatres, it need not rush Ballerina's release if it can be improved.

The initial filming for Ballerina started in the latter phases of 2022. The film comes under the larger John Wick series, which Chad Stahelski oversees alongside producers Erica Lee and Basil Iwanyk. For those unfamiliar with the Keanu Reeves-starrer, Stahelski is the one who helmed all four John Wick films.

Ballerina director Len Wiseman will shoot the additional scenes under the guidance of Stahelski. Ballerina stars Ana de Armas as a female assassin who undergoes training in Ruska Roma traditions. For the uninitiated, Ruska Roma is among the main organisations with membership at the High Table, a council for some of the world's most powerful crime syndicates.

The Ballerina cast also includes the late Lance Reddick, Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Norman Reedus, and Catalina Sandino Moreno. Further, the legendary Ian McShane and John Wick star Keanu Reeves are part of the film in small roles.
