In a recent conversation on the podcast Happy Sad Confused, actor Michael Cera revealed that he was not originally meant to do a fight sequence in last year's runaway hit Barbie. A chatty Cera told podcast host Josh Horowitz that Ben Affleck was supposed to be in the scene. Horowitz brought up the scene during his conversation with Cera, and the actor said that Affleck dropped out of the project because he was directing the real-life-based sports drama titled Air at the time.

The actor was fresh from his COVID recovery phase when the shoot came about, but he did not hesitate to take it on. In the scene, Cera's Allan has a confrontation with a construction employee named Ben.

"I had to jump in with the stunt team. I had just gotten over COVID, and they had me trained, and I almost died just doing a warm-up. I had to lie down in the trailer, and they sent a nurse to see me," said Cera.

The conversation also featured Cera's Barbie co-stars, namely Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, and Kate McKinnon.

Barbie bagged five Oscar 2024 nominations, including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay.
