A Quiet Place: Day One Trailer: Lupita Nyong'o fights to survive in an alien-invaded world

The trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One has been released, marking the latest instalment in the post-apocalyptic horror franchise spawned from 2018’s A Quiet Place.

The over one-and-a-half-minute-long trailer opens with glimpses from 2018's A Quiet Place and its sequel as it turns the clock back to "Day One" when the first apocalyptic alien invasion breaks out in New York City.

The clock is turned back 400 days when events of the attack happened. Lupita Nyong’o, the primary protagonist is walking in a fairly busy New York City where he can see meteor showers, a few of which fall on the ground, destroying everything. Alien-like creatures have descended on the city and are on a killing spree. Lupita Nyong’o must navigate through the disaster-struck city, trying to escape the dangerous beasts.

The prequel spin-off to the John Krasinski/Emily Blunt horror series centers around a new set of characters, played by Lupita Nyong'o, Joseph Quinn, and Alex Wolff, while A Quiet Place Part II star Djimon Hounsou reprises his mysterious character, previously referred to as "Man on Island." The film is directed by Michael Sarnoski.

John Krasinski’s 2018 horror thriller introduced the Abbott family, who embraced a life of silence at their rural farmhouse in upstate New York in a terrifying reality overrun by sightless alien monsters that hunt through sound. The story continued in 2021’s A Quiet Place: Part II where they continue to navigate and survive in the post-apocalyptic world.
