Jim Carrey to return for Sonic the Hedgehog 3

Jim Carrey is all set to reprise his role as Dr Robotnik in the third installment of Sonic the Hedgehog. Even though the second film ends with Dr Robotnik falling to his death, the post-credit sequence revealed that his body was not retrieved, setting the stage for his return. 

Based on the video game series of the same name, the original film released in 2020 while the second film hit the theatres in 2022, a third film was announced in February of the same year. Along with Jim Carrey, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will also see the return of cast members James Marsden, Ben Schwartz, Tika Sumpter, Colleen O'Shaughnessey, and Idris Elba. Jeff Fowler, who directed the last two films, has returned to direct the third film. 

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is currently scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on December 20, 2024.
