The story of the sisterhood will continue in season 2 as HBO has announced Dune: Prophecy's renewal on Thursday during a virtual press conference.
The news comes ahead of the premiere of the first season's finale, which is set to air on Sunday, December 22.
Previously titled Dune: The Sisterhood, the Dune prequel series stars Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Tabu, Camilla Beeput, Sarah Lam, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Jade Anouka, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, and Chris Mason.
The series is based on the novel Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson. Set more than 10,000 years before the events of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune movies, Dune: Prophecy follows the origins of the Bene Gesserit, the secretive order of powerful witches that influence Arrakis’ politics behind the scenes.
"We are incredibly grateful to our partners at Legendary and to our extraordinary cast and crew for their service to the Imperium. We're excited to collaborate with this team again to see what they have in store," Sarah Aubrey, Head of Max Original Programming, said in a statement.
