Anne Hathaway is on a signing spree. The actor has recently signed on to star alongside Dave Bautista in an untitled action comedy which will be scripted by Jonathan Tropper for Amazon MGM Studios and AGBO.
The upcoming film is inspired by a real-life sting operation where agents acted as a couple to infiltrate global criminal enterprises. It ends in a staged wedding in New Jersey where the crime bosses were arrested and dragged away when they checked in for their table assignments.
The film's narrative will be reimagined as a story of two undercover FBI agents with different personalities forced to pretend to live together. While the initially hate each other, they eventually learn to respect each other as their case comes to a close. A release date and details regarding the other cast members are yet to be announced.
The film will be produced by AGBO principals Joe and Anthony Russo, along with Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco and Tropper. Apart from starring in the lead roles, Hathaway and Bautista will also be producing through their Somewhere Pictures banner and Dogbone Entertainment banner respectively.
Tropper, known for This Is Where I Leave You and The Adam Project, is working on several high-profile projects. These include The Corsair Code at Apple with Chris Hemsworth, a Lucky TV series with Anya Taylor-Joy for Reese Witherspoon and Apple TV+, and a Star Wars movie with Shawn Levy. He also wrote The Wrecking Crew, an Amazon MGM action film starring Bautista and Jason Momoa, and the Apple TV+ series Your Friends & Neighbors with Jon Hamm, debuting in April.
