Justin H. Min, known for his roles in The Umbrella Academy and Beef, takes center stage in the indie feature Handle With Care. The film marks the feature debut of director Matthew James Thompson, who also penned the script and executive-produced alongside Min.
The ensemble cast includes Nicole Brydon Bloom (The Gilded Age), Elizabeth Paige (Modern Love), and Jon Rudnitsky (Saturday Night Live), with additional performances by Peter Gerety, Michael Cyril Creighton, Amir Arison, Catherine Curtain, and Winslow Bright.
Handle With Care follows Cole (Min) as he grapples with the emotional and logistical fallout of his year-long marriage to Reese (Brydon Bloom). Tasked with navigating the legalities of their divorce, Cole finds himself selling unopened wedding gifts—classified as joint assets—through online platforms like Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and eBay. As he appraises these items, Cole reflects on the figurative and literal value of everything in his life, offering a cynical yet sharp critique of the “wedding industrial complex.” Through his interactions with an eclectic array of strangers and the looming nuptials of his best friends (played by Paige and Rudnitsky), Cole must confront his skepticism about society’s ideals of “happily ever after” and take accountability for his actions.
Produced under the White Whale banner by Barret Hacia (Blackalachia) and Ashim Ahuja (We’re All Gonna Die), the film was independently financed and shot on location in New York City this October. Executive producers include John B. O’Rourke, the former Director of Theatrical Film Distribution at Warner Bros.
Min's recent feature credits include The Greatest Hits, Shortcomings, and After Yang.
