
Anya Taylor-Joy has signed on to executive produce and star in the Apple TV+ series Lucky, based on Marissa Stapley's eponymous novel. The novel is among Reese Witherspoon's book club selections. Cassie Pappas and Jonathan Tropper are writing a screenplay based on the novel, besides serving as executive producers and showrunners.
According to the official plotline from the makers, the actor “stars as a young woman who left behind the life of crime she was raised in years ago, but must now embrace her darker, criminal side one final time in a desperate attempt to escape her past.”
Tropper will executive produce the limited series as part of her agreement with Apple. On the other hand, Lauren Neustadter and Witherspoon will also executive produce it for the banner Hello Sunshine, besides Taylor-Joy for Ladykiller Films.
Taylor-Joy is known for her breakout performance in Netflix's series The Queen's Gambit, in addition to films such as The Witch and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. Her upcoming projects also include The Gorge, the survival thriller with co-star Miles Teller, Sacrifice with Chris Evans and Salma Hayek Pinault, and a How to Kill Your Family series adaptation.
