Universal has officially announced that Jurassic World 4 has now been titled Jurassic World Rebirth. The studio shared first look pictures of Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali from the film.
Backed by Universal, the new film is directed by Gareth Edwards from a script penned by David Koepp, the writer of Jurassic Park (1993) and its sequel The Lost World.
According to an official summary, the film will be set five years following the events of Jurassic World Dominion (2022), when “the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs.”
“Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.”
The rest of the cast members include Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise, David Iacono and Bechir Sylvian. While Johansson plays Zora Bennett, a skilled covert operations expert contracted to lead a team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the world’s three most massive dinosaurs, Bailey plays paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis. Ali plays Zora’s partner, Duncan Kincaid and Rupert Friend plays Martin Krebs, the representative of the drug conglomerate funding the expedition. Zora's team also includes Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain and Ed Skrein.
According to the story, Zora's operation intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos. When they find themselves stranded on an island, they come face-to-face with a shocking discovery that has been hidden from the world for decades.
Additionally, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo stars as Reuben Delgado, who plays the father of the family that’s been shipwrecked. Luna Blaise, David Iacono and Audrina Miranda are also part of the family.
Jurassic World Rebirth is executive produced by Spielberg through Amblin Entertainment alongside Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley. The film franchise began in 1993, with Steven Spielberg helming the first project.
Jurassic World Rebirth is the seventh film in the 31-year-old franchise and is scheduled to hit theatres on July 2, 2025.
