We had earlier reported that actor Timothee Chalamet will be headlining Josh Safdie's upcoming film Marty Supreme. It has now been confirmed that Gwyneth Paltrow has onboarded the cast of the film. The project marks Paltrow’s first on-screen film role since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

Ronald Bronstein and Safdie himself will write the film. It brings Safdie and A24 together after the latter served as the distributor for the former's previous two features, Good Time and Uncut Gems, both of which were co-directed with his brother Benny Safdie. The duo are also producing the film alongside Eli Bush and Anthony Katagas.

Plot details of the film or Paltrow's role has not been disclosed yet. While it was previously rumored to be loosely inspired by a pro ping-pong player, the film is said to be a fictionalised original film.

Marty Supreme marks a comeback to directorial duties for Josh Safdie after the Adam Sandler starrer and his maiden film as a solo filmmaker following his 2008 debut The Pleasure of Being Robbed.

An acclaimed actor, Paltrow was last seen acting alongside an ensemble cast in Avengers: Endgame. She is best known for her Oscar-winning role in Shakespeare in Love, Sliding Doors, Emma, Se7en, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Proof and The Royal Tenenbaums.

On the other hand, Chalamet was recently seen in hit films like Dune: Part Two, Wonka and Bones and All. Up next, he is set to star as Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s biopic A Complete Unknown.

Benny Safdie is meanwhile directing Dwayne Johnson in The Smashing Machine, which will be a biopic of former wrestler and mixed martial artist Mark Kerr.
