Chris Pine has been added to the cast of the Italian-language feature film The Kidnapping of Arabella (Il rapimento di Arabella). Scripted and directed by Italian filmmaker Carolina Cavalli, this "dramedy" tells the tale of a youngster convinced that she is not the right version of herself.

The film stars Bendetta Porcaroli as a young misfit named Holly who is not comfortable with her body. Certain that she is "the wrong version of herself," Holly happens to meet a boy that changes her mind. Porcaroli worked with director Cavalli in the film Amanda.

Earlier this year, Pine, who speaks Spanish too, revealed to the magazine Vanidades that he is learning Italian and occasionally has a hard time understanding words in these two languages.

The Kidnapping of Arabella has been in development since the successful release of Amanda, Cavalli's absurdist comedy about arrested development that had its world premiere at the 2022 Venice Film Festival.

Antonio Celsi is produdcing the film for Elsinore Film, alongside Annamaria Morelli for The Apartment. The makers are yet to reveal the specifics of Pine's role in the film.
