Actor Kate Burton, known for her role in Grey's Anatomy and Colby Minifie of The Boys-fame are set to headline the cast of the upcoming film The Surrender, an indie horror film by debut feature director Julia Max.
Other actors who are part of the cast are Neil Sandilands, Vaughn Armstrong, Mia Ellis, Pete Ploszek, Chelsea Alden, Riley Rose Critchlow, Lola Prince Kelly and Alaina Pollack.
According to the logline, The Surrender explores the tense dynamics between a mother and daughter, which are pushed to the brink when the family’s patriarch passes away. The grieving mother enlists a mysterious figure to attempt to resurrect her husband. As the unsettling and violent ritual spirals into chaos, both women must confront their conflicts and fight for survival—and for one another.
“The Surrender is an incredibly personal project for me as it was loosely inspired by the experience my mother and I went through when my stepfather passed away,” said Max, who is directing from her own script. “I could not ask for a more talented and empathetic team of actors, producers, and crew to bring this story to life and do it justice.”
The Surrender is produced by Mia Chang, Lovell Holder, Ian McDonald, and director Robert J Ulrich. Susan Gelb, Adam Maffei and Rob Massar are executive producing the film with KW Campol serving as associate producer.
