Kraven the Hunter distributor Sony Pictures Releasing dropped a new trailer for the film, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the titular role. The trailer starts with a sequence where Taylor-Johnson's character Sergei Kravinoff kills an inmate and gets out of a prison. The Russian inmate tells Kravinoff, "The Hunter is a myth," and Taylor-Johnson's character jumps onto the table next to the man with a tiger's teeth, stares at him, tells him "there is an ounce of truth in every myth," and jabs the teeth into his neck. The sequence foreshadows what is to come, including how Kravinoff transforms into a bounty hunter with carnivorous tendencies.
According to the official logline, director JC Chandor's film tells "the visceral story about how and why one of Marvel's most iconic villains came to be." The events in the film precede Kraven's vendetta with Spider-Man.
Chandor directed the film from a screen story and screenplay by Art Marcum, Matt Halloway, and Richard Wenk. The film also stars Alessandro Nivola as another Spider-Man villain, Aleksei Sytsevich, also called The Rhino, and Russell Crowe as Kravinoff's father. The cast of Kraven the Hunter also includes Fred Hechinger, Ariana DeBose, and Christopher Abbott.
Kraven the Hunter is slated for a December 13 release.
