A film based on the late travel documentarian and celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain is in the works. Dominic Sessa, the breakout star of filmmaker Alexander Payne's The Holdovers, is in negotiations to star in the film titled Tony. A24 is in negotiations with Matt Johnson, the co-writer and director of Blackberry, to direct the biopic. A24 is also in talks to produce the project alongside Trevor White and Tim White of Star Thrower Entertainment, as well as Johnson and Matthew Miller.
Lou Howe and Todd Bartels wrote the screenplay for the film, which covers the life of Bourdain, although it is unclear which time of his life the film will explore. Bourdain is known for his uncompromising literature about the food business, such as his 1999 book Kitchen Confidential and his essays about the food business. He became a popular TV personality with food shows such as No Reservations and Parts Unknown.
