At D23 on Saturday, Disney revealed that Sandra Bernhard, Kristen Schaal and Margaret Cho will be playing the Gray Sisters Anger, Tempest and Wasp respectively, in the second season of Percy Jackson and The Olympians.
In Rick Riordan's novel, the enigmatic Gray Sisters, ancient crones who share a single eye and tooth, run a mysterious taxi service in New York City. During the events of Sea of Monsters, they cross paths with several main characters, offering them a ride while they're in the midst of a perilous escape.
Bernhard and Schaal will bring to life two of the Gray Sisters in the story. Bernhard's character, Anger, is responsible for collecting payment from heroes who use the sisters' taxi service and eagerly awaits her turn to use the shared eye. Meanwhile, Schaal's character, Tempest, currently possesses the eye, using its power to glimpse the heroes' futures, toy with their emotions, and mock their romantic interests and social struggles.
Cho will play the role of Wasp, the skilled and fearless driver of the Gray Sisters' taxi. Despite being blind for most of the time, Wasp expertly navigates the vehicle at breakneck speeds, taking the heroes on a thrilling and treacherous ride to Camp Half-Blood.
The latest update follows the recent San Diego Comic-Con panel, where it was revealed that Daniel Diemer would be playing Tyson the Cyclops, a key character who is not only Percy's (played by Walker Scobell) half-brother but also the demigod son of Poseidon and a mythological nymph.
The series is based on Rick Riodran's blockbuster novels, which are collectively titled Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The first season was based on the first book, The Lightning Thief. The second season will follow the events of the second book, Sea of Monsters.
In the upcoming season, Percy Jackson arrives at Camp Half-Blood a year after the previous events, only to discover a world in disarray. His relationships are evolving, particularly with Annabeth, and he's faced with shocking revelations: a cyclops brother, Grover's mysterious disappearance, and the camp's vulnerability to Kronos' attacks.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians is created by Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg. The latter, along with Dan Shotz, run the show. Leah Sava Jeffries stars as Annabeth Chase, and Aryan Simhadri stars as Grover Underwood. The second season will stream next year.
