A fifth instalment in the Toy Story franchise is in development, with Finding Nemo and Wall-E helmer Andrew Stanton attached to direct. Pixar announced the news at Disney's expo D23 the other day and later through an X post. Releasing a teaser on X, Pixar captioned the post, "Get excited for their next chapter as Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the gang all return for Toy Story 5, coming to theaters Summer 2026."
As announced earlier, Toy Story 5 will release in theatres in 2026. The animation studio is yet to confirm whether the original cast—Tom Hanks (Woody), Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear), and Jessie (Joan Cusack), among others—will return for the fifth part. Hanks, Allen, and Cusack voiced their respective characters in 2019's Toy Story 4.
The makers are yet to reveal plot information, but the toys are set to deal with a fresh challenge that involves a set of rogue Buzz Lightyears and electronic playthings.
