A24 is reportedly in early negotiations with actors Zendaya and Robert Pattinson to headline their upcoming film, The Drama. The film will be directed by Kristoffer Borgli, who recently helmed Dream Scenario, which was also backed by A24. A24 is set to produce and finance the upcoming film, which will be directed by Borgli from his own script.
The Drama will also be produced by Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, and Tyler Campellone under their Square Peg banner. While plot details are undisclosed, the film is expected to be a romance, with the couple facing unexpected twists on their big day.
A24 has previously collaborated with Square Peg for films like Hereditary, Midsommar, and Dream Scenario. Upcoming films of their collaborating include Death of a Unicorn, starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega, and Eddington, starring Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, and Emma Stone.
A24 has been eager to work with director Borgli again after the success of their film together, Dream Scenario. This interest intensified when Zendaya expressed keenness to star in their next project. Robert Pattinson's subsequent involvement has made the film a top priority for the studio, although final deals are still pending.
On the work front, Zendaya has been in the limelight this year for her performance in the acclaimed films Dune: Part Two and Challengers. Coming up, she has the third season of Euphoria, the series that won her an Emmy, for which she will begin filming in 2025.
Pattinson, on the other hand, was last seen in The Batman in 2022. He also lent his voice to the Grey Heron in The Boy and the Heron. He currently has Bon Joon-Ho's Mickey 17 in the pipeline.
