Maia Mitchell, Belmont Cameli and Peter Stormare onboard Until Dawn

Actors Maia Mitchell, Belmont Cameli and Peter Stormare are the new additions to the cast of the video game adaptation of Until Dawn by Sony’s Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions.

They will join the previously announced cast members Ella Rubin, Ji-young Yoo, Odessa A’Zion, and Michael Cimino.

The film is directed by David F Sandberg, who is best known for helming Lights Out (2016) and Annabelle: Creation, is returning to the horror genre with this film after he last made Shazam! Fury of the Gods. He is reuniting with his Annabelle: Creation writer-producer Gary Dauberman on it which has a script by writer Blair Butler.

Details about the film's plot are not yet revealed, but it is reportedly a terrifying love letter to the horror genre. The respective roles of the cast members have also been kept under wraps.

The PlayStation 4 horror game video game, released in 2015, centres on eight friends trapped together on a remote mountain retreat — only to discover they are not alone. They must navigate dread and fear to make it through the night in one piece. The video game, which starred Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere in motion-capture versions, was released in 2015.

Dauberman is producing through his Coin Operated banner with Sandberg and Lotta Losten via Mångata, Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee and Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan of PlayStation Productions.

Until Dawn is the latest IP from PlayStation's catalogue to get adapted for film or TV. Other PlayStation adaptations include The Last of Us, Twisted Metal, Gran Turismo, and Uncharted.

Actor Maia Mitchell is best known for her work in the long-running series The Fosters. She also had her breakthrough with Disney's Teen Beach movies. She recently completed filming for Family Secrets which also stars Eric Dane and Tyriq Withers.

Belmont Cameli starred in Peacock’s Saved by the Bell reboot, Netflix’s drama Along for the Ride which hailed from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before screenwriter Sofia Alvarez. He will next be seen in Barry Levinson’s mob film Alto Knights, which stars Robert De Niro and which Warner Bros. will release later this year.

Veteran actor Peter Stormare is best known for his role in Coen brothers’ cult classic Fargo. He is also known for Armageddon, The Big Lebowski, Constantine, and Prison Break.
