
Actor Jordan E Cooper is the latest to join the cast of Freaky Friday 2. The much-anticipated sequel to the 2003 film Freaky Friday is directed by Indian-American director Nisha Ganatra for Disney.
Jordan E Cooper joins previously announced new cast members Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Sophia Hammons.
Freaky Friday's lead actors Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are returning to reprise their roles as mother and daughter in the upcoming sequel. Returning cast members also include Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao.
Ganatra is directing the sequel from a script by Jordan Weiss. Freaky Friday 2 is produced by Andrew Gunn and Kristin Burr. The sequel, which went on floors in June, will reportedly see Lohan reprising her role as Anna, who now has a daughter of her own and will soon have a stepdaughter. The official description of Freaky Friday 2 reads, "As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess (Curtis) and Anna discover the lightning might indeed strike twice."
A release date for Freaky Friday 2 is yet to be revealed by the makers.
As a Tony Award-nominated actor, playwright, producer, and director, Cooper is the youngest Black American playwright in the history of Broadway. He earned critical acclaim for his play Ain't No Mo which garnered Tony Award nominations. Cooper created, executive produced, and directed BET's The Ms. Pat Show. Cooper also played MC Tyrone in the FX series Pose.
