Earlier, we had reported that multihyphenate personality Pharrell Williams and filmmaker Michel Gondry, who is best known for helming Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, have teamed up for a musical. It has now been learned that actor Brian Tyree Henry has joined the yet-to-be-titled film's cast. The film also stars Kelvin Harrison Jr., Halle Bailey and Da'Vine Joy Randolph.
Written by Steven Levenson and Martin Hynes, the upcoming film is billed as a coming-of-age story set in 1977 in Virginia and inspired by Williams' childhood neighbourhood Atlantis Apartments.
Mimi Valdés and Williams are producing it through their banner, I Am Other, alongside Gil Netter's banner. Christine Sun and Ryan Jones are overseeing the film project for Universal Pictures.
Meanwhile, Brian Tyree Henry recently appeared in two projects, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and the FX TV series Class of '09, co-starring Kate Mara. His upcoming works include Transformers One and The Fire Inside.
