Actor Anne Hathaway differentiating how auditions and 'chemistry test' were during her early days and how it is now when she had to choose a male co-star in her production The Idea of You, recalled a particular distasteful experience.

Hathaway said she was asked to "make out" with 10 guys as a part of the chemistry test. The Devil Wears Prada actress said, while talking to the V Magazine, though it was considered "normal" during the 2000s but she felt it wasn't the right way to do it.

However, she did not want to express lack of excitement as she was aware she may be written off as "difficult" to work with. But she called the particular audition experience a "gross".

Fast forward to her production venture The Idea of You, Hathaway said the chemistry test she took was the actor who comes for the audition has to play a song they feel would suit their character and get her character to get to dance, followed by a short improvisation. It is through this process actor Nicholas Galitzine was picked, Hathaway said.

She added that Galitzine picked 'The Alabama Shake' and the process went easy.
