30 years after the Oscar-winning film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert will get a sequel with the original cast members and the director Stephan Elliott.

The film's success in 1994 led to the introduction of LGBT themes in mainstream cinema.

The road comedy film follows two drag performers and a transgender woman travel across the desert to perform their unique style of cabaret in a large tour bus named "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert."

Terence Stamp played Bernadette Bassenger, while Hugo Weaving plays Anthony 'Tick' Belrose who later changes name to Mitzi Del Bra after transitioning and Guy Pearce plays Adam Whitely and later becomes Felicia Jollygoodfellow.

The sequel to the Australian film, with the plot details still under wraps, will feature the grown-up version of Tick's seven-year-old in the first film.

The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert won an Oscar award for Best Costume Design at the 67th Academy Awards in 1995.
