Ryan Gosling's Project Hail Mary sets release date

Helmed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the film revolves around the story of an astronaut on a spaceship with a mission to save the world

Earlier, we reported that Ryan Gosling is all set to star in an adaptation of Andy Weir's new novel Project Hail Mary. The film has now set a Spring release date. The film will hit theatres on March 20, 2026. Gosling will also produce the film, which revolves around the story of an astronaut on a spaceship with a mission to save the world.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are the directors of Project Hail Mary. Amy Pascal, Lord, Miller, Aditya Sood, Rachel O’Connor and Andy Weir are also producers of the film. 

The film is based on Weir's first self-published novel Martian (2011), which was a huge success and that book was adapted into the critically and commercially successful film starring Matt Damon.

This upcoming sci-fi film shot for IMAX theatres, takes place in the not-too-distant future. Ryan Gosling stars as Ryland Grace, a former teacher who wakes up on a deserted space station with amnesia. Gradually, he regains fragments of his memory, revealing that he was on a mission to a distant star system to fix a cosmic disaster that's already pushed Earth into an ice age. As he uncovers more about his mission, he'll need all his scientific knowledge and resourcefulness to survive, but there might be some unexpected help waiting for him.

The adapted screenplay of Project Hail Mary has been penned by Drew Goddard who also executive produces with his Goddard Textiles partner Sarah Esberg along with Ken Kao.
