An AI-generated trailer with Henry Cavill as James Bond, opposite Bond girl Margot Robbie, garnered plenty of traction online. On YouTube alone, it earned more than 2 million views, adding fuel to the speculation that Cavill is replacing Daniel Craig as the next James Bond. The makers of the franchise have been in search of a new Bond ever since Craig left the role with No Time to Die.

Speaking on radio host Rich Eisen's eponymous show, Cavill said, "All I have to go off of is the rumors. I have the same information you have. Maybe I’m too old now or maybe I’m not. We’ll see what the [producers’] plans are.”

Interestingly, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare from director Guy Ritchie stars Cavill as Gus March-Phillipps, the founder of the Small Scale Raiding Force who, according to some, inspired Ian Fleming to develop James Bond.

Filmmaker Martin Campbell of Casino Royale told Express UK in 2023 that he enjoyed the actor's audition for the role. “Cavill looked great in the audition. His acting was tremendous. And look, if Daniel didn’t exist, he would have made an excellent Bond. He looked terrific, very handsome, and very chiseled, and was in great physical shape. He just looked a little young at that time back then,” Campbell said.
